Thank you for your support & although I lost the vote I was very pleased
with my 2260 votes (44%).
The good news is that the Reclaim The Union
candidates increased their representation on the NEC from 15 to 18 seats. In the
South West we aim to stand in every election that we can and build upon the
successes of this campaign.
In the South West this is a start of
rebuilding the Left and it is the aim to be at core of every campaign against
unfairness & injustice.
After the successes of the UNISONaction Broad Left candidates in the 2017 NEC elections and the fantastic General Election result for Jeremy Corbyn's Labour Party I am optimistic about the future and therefore delighted to be standing as the UNISONaction Labour Left (Corbynista!) candidate in the South West for the National Labour Link Committee. Ballots are being sent out on 9th August - the views on this blog are mine alone.

Unison eloquently put the case that workers have taken a 16% pay cut in real terms over the last 3 years of the pay freeze. Therefore, it is obvious that a 1% pay offer requires immediate rejection and a sustained campaign to ensure fair pay.
We need leadership, not fine words.
The equivocation from Unison's NJC exemplify why you should make every effort to ensure that a fighting leadership is elected in the NEC elections.
Double your efforts & Reclaim The Union!

Unison has recently highlighted that Local Government pay & conditions are already already amongst the worst in the public sector
• Pay has fallen by 15% since 2010 once inflation is taken into account
• Since 1997, pay rises were bel...ow inflation in seven of those 15 years and just
at inflation levels or barely above in the rest – at times when councils could
have afforded more.
1% is an insult. Our message to our leadership is "Just say NO"
